The fight to block Verizon's sale of landlines to Frontier continues.
On Tuesday, members of the Communications Workers of America and the West Virginia State Legislature, delivered a petition to the Public Service Commission, containing the names of 5,000 West Virginians opposed to the sale. The group argues if Frontier takes over, hundreds of West Virginia workers will be out of work and the state's telephone and broadband service will deteriorate. "Those 5,000 signatures were collected in just two weeks. It should speak volumes. This deal is bad for West Virginia and we understand it is probably good for Wall Street," said Lincoln County Delegate Jeff Eldridge. Kanawha County Commissioner Kent Carper says the Governor and both Senators Rockefeller and Byrd are doing everything they can to make sure the deal protects West Virginia workers and improves the state's land line service.
