A pair of World War II veterans are recognized Tuesday morning at the state Capitol.
Governor Manchin was on hand to recognized veterans Dewey Mann from Nitro and Kenneth Hess from Alum Creek. Both fought in France during the war and were given Legion of Honor badges from the French embassy. Mann went to receive that honor in Washington, D.C. last week.
Mann says he's accomplished a lot of things in his 93 years, but one of his proudest accomplishments was being a good leader. "I was a successful leader in combat when the stakes were the highest that you could ever get, and that was to lose your life."
The governor personally thanked the men for their service this morning. Each veteran was given a special certificate at the ceremony.
