The temperature is around 60 degrees, but Randolph County still sports a winter wonderland look. Barbour, Nicholas, Randolph, Upshur, Webster and Pocahontas counties remain under a flood warning. The rain is the wild card, but snow melt and wind will also be key factors. National Weather Service hydrologist John Sikora says if you look at six inches of the remaining snow it contains three inches of water. There are shaded spots in the mountains with three of four feet of snow remaining. Flooding has already hit this winter along the Greenbrier River in a January snow melt that pushed mountain rivers out of their banks. The state is preparing an emergency response. The best chance of significant flooding comes on Friday night and Saturday when rain could combine with melting snow. High water problems are expected to shift to the Ohio River next week.
