FOX News Network host Mike Huckabee says coal is a vital part of the health of this nation, and he's not just talking about keeping the lights on.
Huckabee says coal is an important because of the role it plays in America's national security.
The former governor of Arkansas and Republican presidential candidate was the keynote speaker for the Massey Energy Safety and Environmental Innovations Expo. Huckabee's speech mirrored many of the points Massey CEO Don Blankenship has been making for years.
Huckabee says the Obama administration's apparent dislike for coal as an energy source has far-reaching repercussions, beyond the thousands of jobs at stake in the Appalachian coalfields.
