A group of state workers didn't let the day off because of President's Day go to waste.
They campaigned at the statehouse for a cost of living adjustment.
A house bill currently in front of the pension committee could give all state employees a $1,000 pay raise.
House finance committee chairman Harry Keith White says the bill will probably not pass, albeit the legislature would like to give workers a raise.
White says there isn't enough money in the surplus to cover the raise because some of it is already ear marked for next year's state budget.
Still, workers say they aren't asking for much.
