A Delta Airlines plane aborted takeoff after a tire blew out around 7:20 a.m. Monday.
Nobody was hurt.
This is the second incident in a month at Yeager Airport.
Back in January, a US Airways jet nearly slid off the side of the mountain after the pilot aborted the take off.
Airport officials say unlike that incident, this time the EMAS system was not needed to halt the plane.
They say a mechanical problem with the plane caused the two tires to blow.
There were 46 passengers and three crew members on the flight bound for Cincinnati. Kanawha County commissioner Dave Hardy was one of those passengers. He said he's flown hundreds of times, and never experienced anything like this. He said he knew something was wrong when the plane started shaking and he could smell burning rubber.
An evangelist traveling through the area was sitting next to a first-time flier. Byron Foxx said he had just gotten through telling the man how things are usually smooth and there aren't many incidents with flights. Then, this happened. Foxx said he wasn't afraid to get right back on a plane and fly again. He said his faith was strong before and after the incident.
The plane should be removed by mid-afternoon. Eyewitness News will have more on this story throughout the day.
