Mother nature laid down a heavy hand on West Virginia's mountain counties Christmas morning.
Winds topping 50-miles an hour knocked out power and added to the destruction and dismay many people in the area already felt. The wind ripped the roof off a former school building converted into a home and dropped it on parked State Police car in Cowen. In Nicholas county, the deck porch of a home in Calvin and part of the roof was ripped from the back of a house. It landed in the front yard. families in 18 counties are still dealing with power outages and the latest storm did nothing to help. About 1,000 linemen from AEP worked Christmas day to get to the hardest hit areas of Logan, Boone and Mingo counties. The company is asking its customers to be patient.
