This weekends storm has dumped over a foot of heavy, wet snow in some parts of the region, leaving many in the dark.
According to Phil Moye with AEP "We are having problems with accessibility, and getting to poles and lines because of the deep snow. Crews are coming from around the region to help, but are having trouble because of closed and blocked streets."
As of 2:00pm, Here are the latest power outages in the region according to
American Electric Power's website:
Boone = 4,400
Cabell = 9,500
Fayette = 6,400
Jackson = 3,100
Kanawha = 38,000
Lincoln = 6,600
Logan = 13,500
Nicholas = 1,900
Putnam = 5,400
Wayne = 7,600
Mingo = 11,600
Alleghany Power is reporting nearly 15,000 customers without power as of 6am.
As of 11:17am, Buckeye Rural Electric is reporting 780 customers without power in Gallia, Jackson and Lawrence and Meigs counties.
It could be a few days before power is restored to everyone currently experiencing an outage. "There are people who will be without power for multiple days, maybe into next Friday," Moye added.
