"I think we're still in shock," Betty Adkins said. "We just can't believe it, it's just hard to believe."
All that's left of one home in the Harts community in Lincoln County is a shell, and family members say all that's left of 71-year-old Kenneth Chapman is a memory. "He was my baby brother and he was a good person," Adkins said. Chapman's sisters, Adkins and Jewell Sperry say right now there are more questions than answers. "All we know is what the State Police told us," Adkins said. "It started in the living room and didn't get to the bedroom where he was at. We don't know what happened." But what they know for certain is their beloved brother is gone, after an early morning fire completely ripped through his home. Luckily, another member of the family was able to make it out alive. "A nephew of ours, Russell, was there and got out," Adkins said. "He got burnt, but got out." But for Chapman, he's now being remembered as a kind and giving man. His family says he would do anything for anyone. "It's pretty bad...pretty bad...pretty awful," Adkins said. The State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the blaze. Meanwhile Chapman's body has been taken to the State Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy.
