At the West Virginia Public Health Symposium, the news about swine flu is good.
State Health Officer Dr. Cathy Slemp says the vaccine appears to be working because the number of H1N1 cases in the state is dropping.
Fourteen people have died in the Mountain State from the virus, but Slemp says that number is small compared to how many people got sick from H1N1.
Now, Slemp says the state needs to continue to focus on getting people vaccinated, and that will become easier when private health care providers can begin giving out the shot.
By early 2010, the state should have enough vaccines to give them out to anyone who wants one.
