The Boys Scouts unveiled plans today to turn a section of West Virginia into the organization's fourth high-adventure camp. The camp will be built on a 10,600-acre tract in Fayette County near Glen Jean. The Summit: Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve is made possible by a $50 million gift from the San Francisco-based S.D. Bechtel Jr. Foundation. The camp also will become the home of the scouts' National Jamboree, a huge event attended by more than 40,000 scouts, staff and leaders. The camp could draw between 40-thousand and 200-thousand visitors a year when the Scouts complete an estimated 300 million dollar investment. The camp should create 80 permanent jobs and 1200 seasonal ones.
