As Ryan Glock and Jillian Light watch their sons get ready to play in the midget football league Superbowl, they are keeping an extra close eye on their other children, especially after what happened during practice Friday night in Poca, when they said a stranger tried to lure two of their kids away.

"He tried to tell them he was going to give them candy and Gatorade," Glock said. "[He] had them walking half way out the parking lot before we noticed and we went to get our kids."

Other parents managed to track down the man and detain him while police were called. But they say since the man didn't actually touch the children, police told them he couldn't be arrested.

"What is to say that in the future another child won't have this experience and actually end up going with this guy," Light said.

Parents say the man often showed up at games and they had no reason to consider him suspicious. Now, their trust has been violated.

"It is very sad," Light said. " We are a big family at the ball field. Everybody takes care of everybody."

Now their kids are getting another lecture on the dangers of strangers.

"I have since told my child he is not allowed to walk away with anybody," Light said. "Even if we know that person he has to tell me who it is and where he is going."

A lesson that will hopefully prevent another close call from happening again.
