The first annual Halloweast appears to have started off without a hitch and organizer, Ric Cavender says it's nice to see hard work pay off.

"For a first year event we couldn't be happier. We did a lot of marketing for this. We pushed very hard to make sure everyone knew what Halloweast was about." says Cavender.

Halloweast was set up to help revitalize the east end of Charleston.

"It'll improve the looks of businesses on Washington Street and Smith Street business districts, and it will help marketing and business recruitment efforts on the east end and our public arts initiatives." says Cavender.

Of course, Shannon King, of Hurricane, says when you have native West Virginian Sam Trammel, the star of the hit HBO series True Blood, as your main attraction, you're bound to get a good response.

"He was so genuinely nice. Just a regular person. So nice and down to earth. Kind of like his character on the show." says King.

King and her friends attended the one hundred dollar meet and greet with Trammel and they say meeting him is great, and they're glad the money is going to help the capital city.

"With the economy where it is and everything, it's nice to have someone who cares about his hometown." says, Elizabeth Culberson of Charleston.

And Culberson says this is definitely a Halloween she won't forget.

"I'm a little bit giddy because he's kind of cute." laughs Culberson.

Halloweast events will continue throughout the weekend.
