Body Found in Field Body Discovered in Rural Mason County

The Mason County Sheriff's Office says the victim that was found Tuesday morning was 35-year-old Tonya Lynn Slaughter of Huntington.
People living in Apple Grove say they thought it was a Halloween prank, but soon reality set in that someone had been murdered.
The body was discovered in a field off of Barton Chapel Road around 8 o'clock Tuesday morning. Rosalee Stewart lives only feet away from the scene and tells Eyewitness News a murder this close to her home, puts her on edge.
Stewart says a neighbor in the area found the body on his way to work.
That man told Eyewitness News he was too shook up to go on camera.
Others are still reeling, upset that something like this happened so close to home.
While investigators aren't releasing many details, they say they hope to solve the crime as quickly as possible. They have no reason to think that anyone else is in danger.
