Acting on a tip to verify a sex offender registration, state troopers show up at an address in Pinch.
What they found was the women in the center of a shooting investigation in which a Charleston police officer and a suspect were killed.
Eyewitness News was the only crew on scene as Natasha Light struggled with an officer before being placed in the back of a squad car. Eight days ago, Light was a passenger in a truck driven by Brian Good.
Good is the man who led police on a chase that ended in his death and the death of Charleston Patrolman Jerry Jones.
But Light wasn't arrested in connection with that incident. Instead, Natasha Light, her husband Jeremy Light and brother Shane Meadows were taken in to custody as a result of a routine verification of a sex offender address change.
Jeremy Light is a registered sex offender and officers say they found him staying at Meadows apartment instead of where he's supposed to be.
But the Lights say the police are targeting them.
Natasha Light tells Eyewitness News that quote:
"Just because of the incident is why I'm being treated like this, it isn't fair ma'am, I have been through enough and this is the last thing I need right now."
Both Natasha Light and her husband Jeremy Light were arraigned in Magistrate Court around 8:30 Monday evening.
Natasha is charged with battery on a police officer amongst other charges and Jeremy is also charged with battery on a police officer as well as failure ro register as a sex offender.
Natasha's brother, Shane Meadows wasn't charged with anything.
