Healthcare reform took center stage on the capitol steps. The AFL-CIO hosted a rally for West Virginia labor workers Sunday.
More than a thousand union leaders and workers from different organizations talked about the need for a public healthcare insurance plan, labor laws and the Free Choice Act. The overall theme for the event was turning around America by empowering the middle class.
However not everyone agreed on how to get there. CWL Local 2001 member, Pam Shinn said, " I think everybody should have healthcare. It is very important." Charleston based insurance agent, John Bell, said it will only cost the public more in taxes.
There are more than 110,000 union workers and 125,000 retired union workers in West Virginia.
