The annual Putnam County Fair is a tradition that many never miss.

John Booth, of Buffalo, says, "Probably since the first year they built the stage.(I've been coming) At least 15 years."

Many use the fair time to make a little extra money for their organizations.

"We're grilling local sweet corn from Gritt's Farm and we're selling it for the Buffalo High School football boosters." says Booth.

Facepainter, Angela Mitchell, says, "I get a lot of repeat business. There's such a large crowd. It's such a great fair."

Others come to enjoy the rides and participate in 4H.

4H participant, Michael Zappia, says, "I like to see all the rides and plus im in 4H."

"I take care of my pig and then I go walk around with my friends and have fun." says 4H participant, Jarad Hayson.

The Putnam County Fair has now been going on for over 30 years, and despite being in an economic recession, fair coordinators say they think good old fashioned family fun and of course this home cooking will keep people coming back.

Fair Coordinator, Mike Beller, says, "We keep things in perspective for costs. What we want and what we really need. We've stayed well within our budgetary situation."

But Beller says they haven't slacked off on fun.

"It's a nice size carnival." says Beller.

Angela Kargul, of Red House says, "It's close and there's animals and rides. And it's not that expensive."

And there's the chance to make memories that'll keep you coming back.

"It's something whole families get together and do together." says Mitchell.

And Booth adds, "You gotta keep it different and keep people coming back."

The fair runs all the way through next Saturday, July 18. Admission is seven dollars and Sunday you can get in for just five. There will be all types of entertianment throughout the evenings this week, as well as the carnival and tons of vendors.
