"We came out here to see what we could do," Kevin Price said. "Unfortunately, it doesn't look like we can do much at this point. This is a recovery effort at this point."
For the second time in five months, Tri-State Airport has suffered another fatal plane crash.
"The wreckage is in a very, very rural area and extremely hard to get to," Price said.
Price is the Director of Operations at Tri-State Airport and says at this point there's little information about the single engine, private plane that crashed around 1:00 Sunday afternoon near Buffalo Creek Road in Wayne County, just minutes after take-off from the airport.
"We haven't got all the facts together from the tower, we simply don't know yet," he said.
But Garrett Mayo, who lives about 300 yards from the crash, says a trooper with state police told him the two men on board who were killed were from Michigan, ages 53 and 23 and were father and son.
Price did not confirm that information, but did say many people in the area called 911 after the crash.
"We already knew the plane had dropped off radar, and we were already rolling by the time we got the calls this was the exact area where it was," he said.
The National Transportation Safety Board is expected on scene late Sunday night or early Monday morning. Price says after they investigate, another press conference will be held.
