Most July Fourth Celebrations in the Capitol City sat on the fence until the very last minute.

This Independence Day was filled with on and off showers throughout the region. The rain let up long enough for a small celebration at Haddad Riverfront Park, which was just fine to 12 year old Jeff McCullough. He said, " really want to see some fireworks. Those fireworks went off at about 9PM.

At Appalachian Power Park things did not go as planned. The game was rained out and the fireworks show was delayed. The Power will play a doubleheader on Sunday beginning at 5:05pm. Fireworks will follow the game.

The city of Portsmouth aslo delayed their celebration due to rain. It has been rescheduled for Sunday at 10pm.
