The smoking ban in Kanawha County includes every business in the area, with tri-state racetrack and gaming center no exception. Track managers want the county health board to give them an exemption so they can offer a smoking area on the first floor of the facility, while keeping the rest of the nitro location smoke free. They say the ban is costing the track and the state millions in revenue because smokers are going elsewhere to place their bets. The Kanawha Charleston Health Department says it is open to putting track representatives on the agenda for the next health board meeting to hear what they have to say.
