Kanawha County Library Leaders want to build a new branch in Marmet.
The current building is 400 square feet. Designs on the new property are 12 times bigger. The town donated land near Marmet Elementary School. Now library leaders are trying to raise 2 million dollars. Kanawha County Library Board Member, Mike Albert said, " A library is not only a place for books. It is a pulse for the town and a source for meetings. It really helps."
Albert asked Kanawha County Commissioners for 500,000 dollars to help the cause. Kanawha County Commissioner, Dave Hardy said Coal Severance funds could help with the project.
Kanawha County has eleven library sites, four are currently under renovation.
