FIGHTING METHfrom Eyewitness News Online Kanawha County ....

Kanawha County Deputies had their hands full on Wednesday with two meth busts: One in Sissonville, another in Cross Lanes.
So, that meant it was time to fire up the meth cleanup truck and get busy. But it's no easy task cleaning up a lab. "There are several carcenogens and the chemicals are flammable that cause helath hazards, especially with prolonged exposure." says Sgt. Jeff Meadows. Meadows says although the number of meth arrests isn't as high as it was in the peak year of 2005, there's still work to be done. "Four or five were busted a day then, but it's still prevalent. It's in spurts now." says Meadows. Avery Anderson and Marion Harless, were busted for making meth in Sissonville on Wednesday. Meadows says this isn't the first time he's run into the couple. He arrested them back in 2006 for exposing their child to the harmful chemicals. "I feel sorry for the kids. Who knows the long term affects it'll have. Getting them out of those situations... That's rewarding." says Meadows. Deputies say part of the reason meth busts are down is because of their meth tipline. Sgt. Anthony Pauley says, "Sheriff Rutherford has made this a priority for the citizens of Kanawha County and he's set deputies up. They actually follow up on anonymous tips that we've received." And with the addictive nature of the drug, deputies can use all the help they can get. "It's very addictinve. It's like when they do get out, or come back they can't quit. They just keep coming back." says Meadows. If you have a tip on where a meth lab might be you can call that anonymous tipline at (304)-357-4693 Deputies say they're looking to get a brand new meth truck in the near future to tackle more of those labs from your tips.
