Calls for help from victims of the May flooding in southern West Virginia continue to pour into FEMA's joint field office in South Charleston. 1700 victims of the May 9th flood have already received 7.5 WV VOAmillion dollars---an average of about 4,500 dollars. But with this kind of damage left in the wake of the flood, it's clear more help will be needed. That comes from a host of organizations coordinated by the West Virginia Voluntary Organizations Active in Disasters.
FEMA announced Friday that they've set up a single web site that allows anyone to donate, money, goods or time. That site is www.wvvoad.org. 3500 people have already asked for FEMA help, but the government can't do it all. WV VOAD and its website-www.wvvoad.org--allows volunteer organizations, faith communities, the state and FEMA to coordinate efforts.
