That's what the Jefferson Award has been based on and today West
Virginia's volunteers were honored.
The 2009 Jefferson awards were handed out to....Commander Lisa Groves of Dunbar, Thomas Toliver of Charleston, Sister Janet Peterworth of Kermit, Dr. James Benjamin Cox of Hurricane, and A. Franklin Young of Summersville.
The ceremony was held at the University of Charleston.
Governor Joe Manchin along with WCHSTV and FOX11 recognized these outstanding volunteers.
Thomas Tolliver will represent the group in Washington DC for the national ceremony.
The Jefferson awards was co founded by Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, U.S. Senator Robert Taft, Jr. and Sam Beard.
