A Kenova teen is in the hospital with a severe head injury and now investigators are trying to determine if he was beat or hit by accident.

14-year-old Jarod Marcum was hanging out with three other boys last Wednesday when he was hit in the head.

According to his father, Jarod was hit with a wrench wrapped in a towel. But one of the boys there says it was an accident. "He threw a blanket in and a wrench came out and hit him," said JR Crispe

"When he woke up he wanted to know why they hit him and said ' i didn't deserve this'," said Jarod's father Bryan Marcum.

Marcum's father says he is out of a coma but is still heavily medicated and has lost use of his right arm.

No charges have been filed.
