Police surrounded a house on Jackson Street in Charleston after learning that Kristopher Hammond, a suspect in a Tuesday home invasion nearby on Nancy Street, was inside. Neighbors found themselves in the middle of a standoff. Hammond's girlfriend, 19-year-old Alisha Fisher, was already in police custody.
She claimed a woman had stolen money from her and that she'd chased her to Emanual Evans' Nancy Street apartment. Evans claimed Fisher and Hammond took about 90 dollars from him with a rifle when Evans denied involvement in Fisher's missing money.
Sgt. J. K. Coyner called Hammond on a cell phone and convinced him to give up. He came out apparently unarmed, but cops weren't taking any chances. The neighborhood is back to normal. Hammond and Fisher are both charged with first degree robbery.
