Joe Whitten, of Alkol, says it was shaping up to be a normal Memorial Day when all of a sudden a burst of rain flooded his road.
"I've never seen it do this. 5-10 minutes it was up and over the road." says Whitten.
Whitten has lived in Alkol for years and says he has no idea what might have caused the severe flooding, but he reacted quickly.
"I moved my vehicles as far away as I could." says Whitten.
Lieutenant Jason Price of the Morrisville Fire Department agrees there's really no rhyme or reason for the flash flooding.
"I've been her my whole life. This is the first time it's been out of the creek in 20 years. It came up in 10-15 mintues out of its bank."
And Price says his department is already on the job trying to help people recover from the damage caused by the rain.
"We have a possibility two trailers washed off their foundation. We had some bridges damaged and trees in the road. We're stll getting men out having damage assessed." says Price.
And although the cleanup will be a hassle, Whitten says he's thankful for one thing.
"I'm just glad the rain stopped." laughs Whitten.
