An early morning shooting in Mason County has one woman clinging to life in the hospital and the triggerman behind bars.
Police say Kaylahni Kensler was shot at seven times and hit five times in the upper abdomen area by 18-year-old Marshall Siders. It happened just before 6:00 Thursday morning on Jerry's Run Road in Apple Grove.
Police say Siders fled the scene, but later turned himself in and even confessed to the shooting.
Kensler is now in St. Mary's Medical Center where family members tell Eyewitness News that her chances of survival right now look 50/50.
Police say Kensler and Siders are friends and the whole thing started over a dispute.
"It all happened over an argument between the female and the suspect," Mason County Sheriff, David Anthony said. "He shot her five times...five or six times in the upper abdomen area."
Doctors at St. Mary's say it will be at least 72 hours until they can determine whether or not Kensler will pull through. Meanwhile, Siders is being charged with malicious wounding and attempted murder. He's being held on a $1 million bond.
According to Siders' MySpace web page, there is speculation he might be involved with a white supremacy group. Also, Eyewitness News has learned Siders allegedly brought a gun to Hannan High School last year while he was a student. He was punished for his actions.
