"I was shocked," Donna Lewis said. "He seemed like a nice person and I never heard anything about him at all...nothing bad."
But now, the community of Mason is hearing all sorts of bad things about Wahama High School's former principal, 59-year-old David Graham.
"Really shocked," Lewis said. "To have something like that right here in our community."
According to the criminal report, back in June of 1986, Graham allegedly sexually abused his wife's nine-year-old son. Back then, he was not the principal at Wahama High School, but he was a teacher in the school system.
Now, 22 years later, Graham's facing four felonies including sexual abuse, sexual assault, sexual abuse by a parent or guardian and incest.
Lewis' granddaughter attends Wahama High.
"He seemed like a nice guy," she said. "I was up there a couple weeks ago and he opened the door for me. He was as nice as he could be."
"He was well-liked in the school and the community," Linda Clark said.
Clark had both a son and a daughter graduate from Wahama and can't believe the allegations.
"We're not going to believe it as of yet," she said. "It could be gossip."
But according to the report, after Graham was asked about the incident, he confessed, and has now resigned from his position at Wahama.
Graham has been released from jail after he posted a $100,000 bond.
