With a thunderous boom the old Union Carbide building 82 in South Charleston turns into rubble.

"It is really emotional to see it come and go in my lifetime," former Union Carbide employee Wayne Wilder said.

The ten story building is the last remnant of Union Carbide. Many former employees like Wilder came to watch the implosion. Wilder started his career at the building 82 for over 30 years.

"It was like the roots of Carbide," Wilder said. "Everything went through that building."

Barbara Stewart spent 42 years with the company and for her the building holds a lot of memories.

"I worked there so long with the same people," she said. "It will sad to see it go."

The implosion drew hundreds of people, most of them lined the streets to watch, but others watched from rooftops.

It took 15 seconds for the building to collapse. Fifteen seconds that marks the end of an era.
