They say a house cleaner called 9-1-1 around eight Monday morning after discovering Ferrell's body in his bedroom. "It appears to be a homicide as best we can tell," said Corporal Charles M. Shultz of the Madison Police Department. "It occurred last night between midnight and early this morning." Shultz says there was no evidence of forced entry. The state police crime scene unit was called in to look for clues. The officers says says the location Ferrell's body and other details indicate the victim may have known his attacker. "Pretty sure there are people who know, or have a good idea at what may have went on," Shultz said. "Due to the nature of what we found and what the assault could have been over...regarding...it's going to be something probably multiple people are going to find out before long." Police say Shultz lived alone at the home with his dog, which was discovered alive inside by investigators. Neighbors say they rarely saw anyone visiting the home. Several of Ferrell's relatives declined to talk about the murder. "For anybody to have information please let us know because this is a time-sensitive issue," Shultz said. "We need to get it figured out as quick as we can or it might be hard to find out." Shultz says the West Virginia State Police and the Boone County Sheriff's Department are assisting with the investigation. If you have information about this murder please call the Madison Police Department at (304) 369-2762 or contact Boone County Emergency Services and leave a message.
