Tuesday brought an emergency public test of the 16 voting machines slated to count the early votes in Kanawha County. While the machines and their program cards passed a test last week another county clerk discovered a problem. Under certain circumstances when republican straight ticket voters decided to cross over in the Supreme Court race to the democrat side, Beth Walker would have gotten votes she was not entitled. Vera mccormick. New program cards appeared to cure the problem that created demands on an already intense day at voter's registration. Standup. But one of the new cards did not work and the test dragged into the afternoon before the county commission could give the optical scan ballot count the go ahead. The problem, now corrected, also involved optical scan vote machines in other counties.
Kanawha County early voting begins Wednesday at 8 a.m. at voter's registration on Court Street in Charleston.
