Firefighters all over West Virginia gathered to pay their respects to their fallen brothers and sisters.
Each year they hold a memorial service at the Cultural Center to honor those who died in the line of duty over the past year. This year Parkersburg firefighter Thomas S. Gainer name was added to the memorial. He died while on duty in 1965 but it wasn't until this year that his family realized he wasn't on the memorial statue dedicated to fallen firefighters.
So far this year no firefighters have been killed in the line of duty.
