A bizarre accident in Charleston shuts down a busy road for awhile.
The accident happened this morning after police say the driver of the car hit a light pole and a wall along Kanawha Boulevard near Ruffner and Elizabeth Street.
A passing motorcyclist stopped to help out the driver, Kelby Kennedy tell Eyewitness News what happened next, " The driver of the car had crossed the boulevard went down the hillside, jumped in the river and was going to try and swim the river to get away from police. After we yelled at him awhile he realized he wasn't going to make it and he did come back."
When he came ashore, the driver was transported to a local hospital.
