Tri-State Racetrack and Gaming Center is offering more well-paying jobs with the arrival of more table games. But some reports say those jobs aren't bringing in that much dough.
But General Manager Rich Tesler says, "Everybody wins, including the people we employ. We now have over 100 jobs available here at Tri-State."
And those jobs aren't just limited to dealers.
"We're lookin' for cocktail servers, cashiers, back of the house cooks, bussers, every job we have. And we wanna give those jobs to West Virginia residents," promises Tesler.
Dealers make five dollars an hour plus tips at Tri State. There have been reports though that some dealers aren't earning the 30 to 45 thousand dollars a year as advertised. But dealer Greg Bondurant says that's not the case with him.
"I'm doin' well. I can't speak for everyone else. But I'm doing quite well," says Bondurant. And Tesler agrees, "We haven't lost one dealer since we started and they're all surprised at how well they're doing."
Tesler even says one woman who started in house-keeping at Tri-State actually doubled her salary by switching to dealing poker.
Bondurant points out, "I've actually managed businesses and things like that and I'm making more money now than I was before. The players have been very gracious."
Tesler encourages anyone looking for a good job to try for a job at the new casino.
