Tossing 50 pound kegs nearly 15 feet in the air, that's child's play.
Pulling a truck weighing 40,000 pounds, give these men something challenging.
Maybe a plane? Even that that isn't enough to stop the world's strongest men.
For the hometown favorite Phil Pfister this year might be his last chance to regain the title.
Phil Pfister, 2006 World's Strongest Man, "It's a really lifestyle. You have to not worry if you weigh 370 pounds. I'm tired of being this big."
The thirty competitors hail from 12 countries all over the world.
They train hard, working out several hours 5 or 6 days a week.
Derek Poundstone, Competitor, "It's not like you are just going to go squat a car. It takes a lot of warm-up."
The contestants are getting in a few final training sessions but they've also got some down time.
So Pfister is serving as unofficial Charleston tour guide.
He took a few of the men to meet workers at Chesapeake Energy, the company is sponsoring activities for kids during the events.
Pfister says with competitors like these the sport is at a new level.
Phil Pfister, "The bar keeps being raised every year. The competition is more and more hungry, stronger, younger, more fierce. I've had a great run, I'd like to leave on a high note."
Events start Saturday morning at Magic Island.
All events are free and open to the public.
Pfister recommends brings a chair and snacks because there is a lot of down time between contestants.
