Right now, he U.S. Chemical Safety Board is sending a team to investigate the site. Investigators from the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration also are at the site.
State Department of Environmental Protection spokeswoman Kathy Cosco said the primary chemical involved, methyl isobutyl ketone, is highly flammable but not especially toxic.
Bayer says air monitoring found no sign of chemical exposure, either on or off the site.
