"Somebody killed an angel and they got to answer for it" says Charles Moore, the father of murder victim April Myers.
Charleston and Detroit Police Departments teamed up and were able to put Myers' alleged killer behind bars. They were looking for Latrice Hunter for first degree murder. Detroit cops tracked her down and arrested her early Thursday morning.
Moore says there are many unanswered questions surrounding his daughter's death last Friday. He says his daughter had been sleeping in her 4th avenue apartment when she heard people dealing drugs outside. He says she then told them to leave. Moore goes on to say, the men left, then came back moments later with a women who allegedly beat Myers to death with a blunt object. They dragged her into the street and left her for dead.
Moore and his girlfriend came to pack up Myers' belongings like her nursing school books, pictures, and her favorite coffee mug. They say Myers would have graduated nursing school in January.
Police say Myers died from blunt force trauma to the head. Investigators say the four Detroit residents could shed some light about her murder.
Through this tragedy, April's father says he wants people to see the promise of her short life, and use her senseless death as a reason to reclaim Charleston's streets.
