For incoming freshmen, living in a brand new dorm sure beats the horror stories they hear about where some freshmen live their first year on campus.
"It's just clean and everything's nicely painted," Marshall University freshman Nathan O'kane said. "Everything's fresh, the new beds...just a nice environment to come in to something clean."
The new First Year Student Residence Halls took about a year to build, and cost over $26 million.
Some freshmen say they never expected brand new dorms to be available for them.
"I was actually surprised," MU freshman Amanda Locke said. "I bet upperclassmen are kind of mad about it, but I'm really glad."
And so is O'kane, who says the rooms are slightly smaller than he'd imagined, but he's not complaining.
"It's a little bit smaller than I thought, but it's plenty of space for two people," O'kane said.
Freshmen will be moving in to the dorms through the weekend, and the first day of classes start Monday, August 25.
