An eye-catching display in front of the Kanawha County Animal Shelter aims to bring more attention to the problem of pet overpopulation.
Hundreds of collars hang in front of the shelter. The collars represent the more than 6500 animals euthanized in the country last year. the display is part of National Homeless Pet month. Animals lovers hope it will remind people to get their animals spayed and neutered.
The shelter also held a candlelight vigil in the evening to remember all the animals euthanized.
