Matthew Schurman is like every other 21 year old boy, except for one minor detail.
"I had a five percent chance of living through the first day of my life," Schurman said.
That's because Schurman was born with Cerebral Palsy.
He says he's been beating the odds all his life, and he holds the key for unlocking his happiness.
"You got to keep things interesting, or you may as well not really bother," Schurman said.
Keeping that in mind, Schurman and his mother, Brenda decided to celebrate his birthday by jumping out of an airplane 11,000 feet in the air.
"Extremely proud, and proud that he pushes himself," Brenda said. "He doesn't take life sitting on the couch, doesn't let life pass him by."
Above everything else, Schurman says he wants to be an example for others who walk in his shoes.
"It's knowing that I did something new, getting a new kind of thrill out of things," Schurman said. "And showing others like me that they can to. They just need to stick with it and eventually they'll get what they want."
