More than 65,000 union workers are threatening to strike against Verizon if their demands for higher wages, job security and caps on health care aren't met.
Their contract with the huge phone company are set to expires at 12:00 a.m.on Saturday.
No strike has been called, but the rank and file has authorized union leaders to call a walkout if it's needed. Strike talks are expected to go on late Saturday.
