A plan to build a wastewater treatment facility at Slatyfork, near the junction of the Elk River's two main tributaries, didn't go over well with the people who fish there.
Anglers and others who enjoy the Elk say the the plant should be at the base of Snowshoe Mountain, where the threat of flooding and contamination is much smaller than at Slayfork.
By a 2-1 vote, commissioners agreed.
The $17 million dollar project will serve about 2,000 homes, the vast majority of which are located at Snowshoe.
Now that the Pocahontas County PSD has selected a site for the wastewater treatment plant.
The Department Of Environmental Protection will decide whether to issue a permit for the project.
