The Kanawha county smoking ban is now being enforced in bars, gambling parlors and at the Mardi Gras Racetrack And Gaming Center in Nitro. In the new law, smokers have to be at least 15 feet from the nearest door, and any bar owner caught violating the ban faces a fine of up to $1,000. 17 West Virginia counties have banned smoking at bars and gambling parlors.
