Charles Moore, the 20-year-old triggerman in the December murder of Andrew Smoot plead guilty to second degree murder, wanton endangerment and committing a violent crime, while wearing body armor. Co-defendant, Antonio Jefferies could go to jail for a year after pleading guilty as an accessory after the fact. He told the court Monday, Moore went into a rage after two of his friends were shot in a bar and he suspected Smoot was involved.
Detectives called Smoot a person of interest in the double shooting in the bar, but no one has been charged for it. Prosecutors will recommend Moore's sentences run consecutively. Moore faces a maximum possible 55 year sentence. Moore and Jefferies are both slated to be sentenced June 11th 2008.
