Michael Merrifield will spend the rest of his life behind bars with no possibility of parole. It is the recommendation handed down by the jury for killing and sexually abusing two year old Logan Goodall in 2005. The real surprise in the courtroom came when Merrifield asked to have his attorneys removed. Merrifield filed a complaint against Ed Rebrook and Michael Clifford, and the two were so upset with Merrifield they refused to speak on his behalf. Both lawyers told the judge they would like to be excused as counsel, which was granted.

Emotions ran high for the family of little Logan, his grandmother, Melissa Eren called Merrifield a monster. She says she is glad it is over and now the family can put this part of the tragedy behind them.
