David Jarrell was shot and wounded February 28th when he allegedly killed Maxel Long. But it was Long's brother, Leslie "Jim" Long and his stepson, Wayne Gullett, who ended up charged with Maxel's murder. Jarrell wasn't talking Friday at a preliminary hearing for the two suspects. Deputies say Leslie Long and Gullett plotted and then kidnapped Jarrell , who they viewed as a neighborhood bully, briefly at a makeshift roadblock. Jarrell allegedly shot both Longs, then Leslie allegedly shot Jarrell. Leslie Long and Gullett face a possible life sentence if convicted. There are no charges against Jarrell, but a grand jury could change that. Late Friday afternoon, a magistrate found there was probable cause to send the kidnap charges against Gullett to a grand jury, but not the murder charge. All of the charges against Leslie Long will go to a grand jury.
