Don Blankenship says ABC News has it all wrong and that the pictures and the hype behind them are not what they seem. The journalist approached Blankenship unannounced, on the coal companies private property, asking about Blankenship's relationship with the West Virginia Supreme Court.
A representative for ABC News says, "We were trying to do our job, which was to get a comment and get Mr. Blankenship to respond to serious charges. It's unfortunate he became as aggressive as he did while our producer kept his cool. At the end of the day, the video will speak for itself"
Blankenship says that's not the way it happened. During the incident, Blankenship is reported to have said, "If you take photos you're liable to get shot".
ABC News states they just wanted to talk with the Massey CEO about his relationship with State Supreme Court Chief Justice, Elliot "Spike" Maynard, but Blankenship says that relationship isn't a secret.
