Delegates and Senators have very different ideas about how to help educators with anemic 401k plans. The House and Senate plans to help state teachers get out of their 401k style retirement accounts is separated by $58 million. The House bill pumps 78 million into the idea, with Senators only approving up to 20 million. Teachers moving into a different retirement plan would have to pay something, no matter how much the state pumps in. A minimum number of the 19, 000 enrollees would have to make the switch. The two houses also disagree over pay raises for teachers. The Senate has taken out the House's recommendation to pay teachers $400.00 in addition to a 3% increase.
