A Kanawha County woman's disturbing account of an attempted rape has a community wondering if they're in danger. The alleged victim says she was walking home on Patrick Street early Friday morning, when a man pulled up and asked her if she needed a ride. She says he drove her to a road near Big Chimney, nowhere near her friend's house, and tried to rape her. By kicking and scratching, she says she was able to escape.
The alleged suspect is described as a white male, around 25-years-old who used the name "Tommy". He's about 5'5, and has medium length blonde shaggy hair and blue eyes. She says he told her he worked at the auto auction in St. Albans and is originally from Tennessee. The suspects vehicle is said to be a small, dark, possibly foreign make car. If you know anything about this incident, call the Kanawha County Sheriff's office at 304-357-0169. Callers can remain anonymous. Deputies says they are looking into whether or not this case could be linked to a similar assault on a Huntington woman earlier this week.
